Easy Morning Skincare Routine for New Moms
In the whirlwind of those first few weeks postpartum, I quickly learned that my leisurely paced morning routine was a thing of the past. However, I found an easy, fast skincare routine that was not only viable time wise but also gave my skin the care it craved.
Why is Morning Skincare Important?:
Your morning skincare regimen is all about protecting and preserving your skin. The two basic products you need are a cleanser and a face lotion… That’s it! A good cleanser will remove any sediment on your skin from your nighttime slumber (or nighttime awakeness… but I promise Mama, you will sleep again!) A great moisturizer helps to lock in hydration that your face needs to help your skin from drying out. Your body needs all the help it can get staying hydrated while you are recovering from birth and feeding a baby if you are breastfeeding. And don’t forget to choose a moisturizer with a sunscreen!

These are the two products that work best for me:
- My favorite morning cleanser is the Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Cleanser with Bursting Beads. I love the little bursting beads in it’s formula. It truly leaves my skin feeling refreshed and energized. After I use it, I always feel more awake- even after nights spent awake with my baby more than sleeping.
- I follow up with my favorite face lotion- Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer With Sunscreen Broad Spectrum Spf 15 . This lotion has had me hooked for years! It has a luscious formula that hydrates my skin, evens out my complexion, is fast absorbing, and feels lightweight. It also contains SPF- which is crucial for preserving your skin.
If my little babe is still keeping herself entertained at this point, I follow up with this under-eye cream and this lip moisturizer. If she needs me though and I only completed the first two steps, I still feel accomplished and ready to move on with the morning.
Don’t Forget About You, Mom:
I was not consistent with my skincare for about the first two months of being a mom. When I tried to focus on it again though, I felt so much better and could tell it helped our days start out on the right foot. While I may not be able to execute my full pre-kid routine, I am loving how my routine now gives me all the skincare I need. Plus, it takes less then 5 minutes!
When you are physically and emotionally exhausted from taking care of a new baby, the last thing on your mind is taking care of yourself, and yet it is one of the most important things you can do as a new mom. A little self care helps you be a better care taker, and one of the easiest ways to take care of yourself is to show your skin some love. I know it is hard new Mama, but don’t forget about you.
